Indirect sign · Two-sided
Cost-cutting mode (contraction play)
General cost pressure — a cost programme, margin, energy or non-infrastructure price pressure — flagged when layoffs sit alongside it. Two-sided: bearish for new spend, bullish only for offers that cut cost.
- What it suggests
- A company cutting costs buys only what makes it cheaper, and freezes everything else (cost_optimization).
- How early it is
- Indirect. It tends to appear before a company starts shopping, so fewer competitors act on it.
- Which way it points
- Either way. It can mean more spending or less depending on what you sell, so DemandScout never switches it on for you by default.
- What DemandScout reads
- cost pressure
